Danish Ambassador Christian Brix Møller highlighted the continued strength of bilateral ties, noting a 20 percent rise in trade between 2023 and 2024, reaching approximately USD 1.5 billion. He also pointed to positive projections for 2025 and underlined Denmark’s growing investment footprint in Bangladesh. Major recent commitments include USD 12 million in healthcare investments by Impact Fund Denmark and APM Terminals’ USD 550 million port project in Chattogram, which stands as the largest European investment in Bangladesh to date.
“These developments reflect Denmark’s strong confidence in Bangladesh’s economic direction,” the Ambassador said.
The event also featured insights on Bangladesh’s political and economic trajectory. Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar, Head of the Electoral System Reform Commission, provided an overview of the current political landscape, emphasizing the importance of institutional reforms to enhance credibility and stability during the ongoing transition period.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mohammad Abdur Razzaque, Chairman of the Research and Policy Integration for Development (RAPID), presented an in-depth analysis of Bangladesh’s economic prospects in the post-uprising context. He discussed competitiveness, export diversification, and the reforms required for smooth LDC graduation and sustained long-term growth.
The gathering offered a constructive platform for dialogue among businesses, development partners, and policymakers, reinforcing the shared commitment to strengthening Denmark–Bangladesh cooperation in the areas of sustainability, competitiveness, and economic development.
