Nordic Embassies in Dhaka Celebrate Nordic Day 2026, Emphasising Inclusive Societies

The Nordic embassies in Bangladesh—representing Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway—jointly celebrated Nordic Day 2026 in Dhaka, reaffirming their shared commitment to inclusive societies and strengthened global cooperation. This year’s celebration was held under the theme “Inclusive Societies, Stronger Together.”

Nordic Day commemorates the signing of the Helsinki Treaty in 1962, which laid the foundation for formal cooperation among the Nordic countries. The day highlights core Nordic values including democracy, sustainability, gender equality, minority rights, inclusive societies, multilateral cooperation and respect for international law.

The event showcased the strong partnership among the Nordic countries and their ongoing collaboration with Bangladesh in advancing inclusive development and shared global goals. Reflecting this commitment, the organisers were honoured to welcome the Honourable Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Ms. Syeda Rizwana Hasan, as the Chief Guest of the programme.

Guests experienced traditional Nordic cuisine and music, while the event also provided a welcoming platform for dialogue, cultural exchange and meaningful connections among diplomats, partners and stakeholders.

The Nordic embassies expressed sincere appreciation to Swedish companies ABB, Atlas Copco Group, Ericsson, H&M, MGH Healthcare and MGH Logistics for their generous support in making the celebration a success.

Concluding the event, the embassies extended warm wishes to all celebrating Nordic Day 2026, reiterating the message of unity and cooperation—Stronger Together—between the Nordic countries and Bangladesh.
